The Republic of Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean archipelago, consists of 19 groups of atolls and more than 2,000 islands, the capital city of Male, established diplomatic relations with China in 1972, and established a comprehensive friendship and cooperative partnership in 2014. Ambassador Fazeel Najeeb said that the Maldives has been awarded the title of “World's Leading Tourism Destination” for the fifth consecutive time, which is an unprecedented honor globally. The Maldives was selected from 19 highly acclaimed candidates, including Dubai, Greece, Indonesia, Spain and Vietnam, in a highly competitive competition. During the interview session, a junior journalist asked: “Hello, Ambassador! As a senior diplomat, you presented the credentials to Chinese President Xi Jinping on December 12, 2024 and became the Maldives Ambassador to China. In your opinions, how Chinese and Maldives teenagers contribute their wisdom and efforts to further develop the friendly relations between the two countries? Thank you!”
大使谈到, 这是一个非常好的问题。去年, 马尔代夫新总统穆伊兹率一个高级代表团访问中国, 着重强调了中国在马尔代夫发展历程中作为重要盟友和不可或缺的合作者的重要性。今年年1月1日, 马中自贸协定正式生效；马尔代夫国家航空公司新增中马直飞航班, 中国也一直是马尔代夫旅游业的重要客源国；我认为, 中马两国青少年如何传承两国的宝贵友谊应该从互相了解对方的历史、文化开始, 马尔代夫学生也有在中国留学, 两国学生应该多多交流, 互相关注对方国的重要事件, 共同推动马尔代夫同中国友好关系的发展。

On January 1 this year, the Maldives-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) officially took effect; the Maldivian national airline has added new direct flights between China and the Maldives, and China has always been an important source of tourists for the Maldives' tourism industry. In my opinion, how to pass on the invaluable friendship between the two countries to the young people of the two countries should start from a mutual understanding of each other's history and culture, and there are Maldivian students who have been studying in China. Students from both countries should have more exchanges and pay more attention to important events in each other's countries, so as to jointly promote the development of friendly relations between Maldives and China.

For example, people know about China through Yellow River, Giant Panda and etc. When it comes to the beautiful sky, ocean and beaches, people usually think of Maldives, known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean". I have a wish: I hope to make friends with Maldives children and continue our precious friendship with them. We want to know that how can we do to connect with Maldives children and teenagers? 大使表示, 中马关系友好体现在很多方面, 马尔代夫国家博物馆是中国建设好赠送给马尔代夫的, 为了延续两国友好关系, 两国小朋友应该交朋友, 可以在网上, 在社交平台, 还有通过我们大使馆, 此外, 中国作为公认的数字经济大国, 马尔代夫也希望通过学习合作, 更好地拥抱数字时代。
