Children of China and Russia share many common things, including the bright red scarves, the Soviet Young Pioneers' slogan “Be prepared to struggle for the cause of communism” as well as the Soviet Young Pioneers' song “Higher Rises our Campfire”. Those things made great influences on not only Russian young generations but also many Chinese teenagers. China and Russia are friendly neighbors and strategic partners with a shared future. Children are the future of China-Russia friendship and the future of the world. On July 22nd, "Witness Friendship" Home and Abroad News Press Junior Journalist Delegation interviewed the Consul General of Russia in Guangzhou Mr. Alexandr Chernousov. The friendship between the two countries is well established, and we hope that the young people of China and Russia write their beautiful chapters for the priceless friendship.
A junior journalist asked: “Hello, Mr. Consul General, you are such a senior diplomat, and it is our honor to have this interview with you today. Russia is a good friend and brother of the Chinese people. In your opinions, how will the younger generations of the two countries carry on and further promote the traditional friendship between China and Russia? Thank you!”
Consul General Chernousov said that we sincerely welcome Chinese junior journalists to visit the Russian Consulate General in Guangzhou today. For more than 8 years, the heads of state of China and Russia have maintained a high-frequency exchange visits, and have met many times on international and multilateral occasions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, both countries have maintained close communication with each other to further improve confidence and momentum to the two countries’ century-old development and set an example for how big countries should get along. We hope that such a friendly relationship between China and Russia can be passed down from generation to generation, and that young people from the two countries can communicate through various channels as well as online communication; as a result, we can understand more about the history and national conditions of the other country, which is essential to promote the development of China and Russia’s friendly relations.
Another junior journalist asked: On May 28, 2022, the 11th “Russian Language Day” and “China-Russia Year of Sports Exchange” co-hosted by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and the Consulate General of the Russia in Guangzhou provided a broad communication channel for the young people of the two countries to deepen our mutual understandings. As the Consul General of the Russia in Guangzhou, how will you promote the exchanges and cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and Russia to enhance the younger generations’ friendship?”
Consul General Chernousov said that June 6th is the birthday of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, who is known as the "Father of Russian Literature". He carried on the excellent tradition of ancient Russian literature and promoted it to the world. The United Nations has also designated this day as the "International Russian Language Day", and Russian is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. On May 28, 2022, the 11th "Russian Language Day" and the 2022-2023 "China-Russia Year of Sports Exchange" co-hosted by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and the Consulate General of the Russia in Guangzhou, these events provided great opportunities for promoting youth exchanges and cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and Russia, deepening the concept of "friendship for generations" between China and Russia and our people, and creating new energy into the future development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era.
“Russia's education is world-renowned, and Ross also leads the world in aerospace, nuclear energy, space technology and many other fields. We want to know what are the requirements if we choose to study in Russia in the future? Many thanks!” a junior journalist asked.
“This is a very good question!” Consul General Chernousov said, first of all, Russian universities have 'lower threshold' compared with European universities, foreign students do not need to provide college entrance examination scores, the only requirement is Russian proficiency test. There is another way, you don’t have to come to Russia to study. There are also many schools in Shenzhen jointly found by China and Russia, which offer different programs such as linguistics, economics, transportation and logistics, culture, art, energy, nuclear energy, medicine, law, international trade and finance etc.
The interview was about one and a half hours. Consul General Chernousov happily invited the junior journalists to study and travel to Russia. The junior journalists also presented the small gifts to Consul General Chernousov and other Russian diplomats. The conference hall was laugh and joy, and everyone was very happy in this wonderful afternoon and said: China and Russia’s friendship go on forever...
