At 6 pm on November 28, 2023, the 111th Anniversary of Albania’s Independence Day Reception and the 74th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Albania was held in the International Banquet Hall of China World Summit Wing Beijing. Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China and Special Representative for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries Mrs. Jiang Yu attended the reception. Invited by Ambassador of Albania to China H.E. Mr. Selim Belortaja, President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan, Executive Director Mr. Liu Dengchen, and Chief Interpreter Mr. Ryan Meng attended the celebration together with ambassadors from various countries, including Ambassador of Turkey to China H.E. Mr. İsmail Hakkı Musa, Ambassador of Moldova to China H.E. Mr. Dumitru Braghis, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to China H.E. Mr. Fariz Mehdawi, Ambassador of Cyprus to China H.E. Ms. Martha Mavrommatis, Ambassador of Pakistan to China H.E. Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Mongolia to China H.E. Mr. Tuvshin Badral, Ambassador of Jordan to China H.E. Mr. Hussam Al Husseini, Ambassador of Armenia to China H.E. Mr. Sergey Manassarian, Ambassador of Brunei to China H.E.Mr. Pehin Dato Rahmani, Ambassador of Cape Verde to China H.E. Mr. Arlindo do Rosário, Ambassador of Mauritius to China H.E. Mr. Alain Wong Yen Cheong and more than 100 people including representatives from relevant Chinese government ministries and commissions, Chinese institutions and guests from the cultural and art circles attended the reception.

The banquet hall was bright with an elegant atmosphere. Ambassador of Albania to China H.E. Mr. Selim Belortaja delivered a speech at the ceremony. He introduced the history of the independence of the Republic of Albania, and then reviewed the history of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and China, and extended his warm wishes and heartful thanks to all guests who attended the 111th Anniversary of Albania’s Independence Day and the 74th anniversary of Albania and China’s diplomatic relations.

In September 2023, Albania served as the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the second time. Albania plays an important role in international affairs. Albania is an old friend of China, and the two peoples share brotherly friendship.
阿中建交74周年, 是对“中阿”两国兄弟情的再一次追溯, 从74年前开始。新中国成立53天后, 阿尔巴尼亚就与中国建立了外交关系, 成为与中国建交的第一批国家。
The 74th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and China is another retrospective of the brotherhood between the two countries, which began 74 years ago. Fifty-three days after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Albania established diplomatic relations with China and became one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with China.
“中阿”在双边经济贸易关系上, 签有《贸易协定》、《关于鼓励和相互保护投资协定》、《关于对所得和财产避免双重征税和防止偷漏税协定》。1989年成立两国政府间经济技术合作混合委员会。2016年6月, 中阿双方签署《中华人民共和国政府和阿尔巴尼亚共和国政府经济技术合作协定》。阿尔巴尼亚经济发展、旅游、贸易和企业部长埃科诺米来华出席中国-中东欧国家经贸促进部长级会议。2017年11月, 在第六次中国-中东欧国家领导人会晤期间, 中阿签署《中华人民共和国海关总署与阿尔巴尼亚共和国海关总署关于海关合作与行政互助的协定》。
In terms of bilateral economic and trade relations, China and Albania have signed the "Trade Agreement", the "Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and Government of the Republic of Albania concerning the Encouragement and Reciprocal Protection of Investments", and the "Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital". The Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two governments was established in 1989. In June 2016, China and Albania signed the "Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement between China and Albania." Albanian Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Enterprise came to China to attend the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Economic and Trade Promotion Ministerial Meeting. In November 2017, during the Sixth China-Central and Eastern European Countries Leaders’ Meeting, China and Albania signed the Agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters.
今年是中阿合作继续全面拓展的一年, 双方各层级、各领域交往不断。两国总理在索非亚举行双边会见, 为双边关系发展到新的水平。
This year has been a year of continued comprehensive expansion of China and Albania’s cooperation, with continuous exchanges between the two sides at all levels and in all fields. The Prime Ministers of the two countries held a bilateral meeting in Sofia, which brought bilateral relations to a new level.
贝洛尔塔亚大使在接受记者专访时表示, “一带一路”倡议10周年, 为沿线国家创造了更多合作机会。这一立场将随着两国签署“一带一路”建设备忘录而更加明确, “阿尔巴尼亚对这一倡议的支持和理解将在几天后更加明确, 阿中两国政府将签署备忘录, 届时阿尔巴尼亚将宣布正式加入‘一带一路’建设, 在这个平台上迎接挑战、履行承诺。”
In an exclusive interview with our journalist, Ambassador Selim Belortaja said that the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative has created more opportunities for cooperation between the countries along the route. This initiative will become clearer with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, “Albania's support and understanding of this initiative will become clearer in a few days, when the governments of Albania and China sign the Memorandum of Understanding, and Albania will announce its official participation in the 'Belt and Road' construction, and will join the 'Belt and Road' in a formal way.” We will take up the challenge and fulfill its commitments on this great platform.”

The Embassy of Albania in China is the partner organization of Home and Abroad News Press, and Ambassador Selim Belortaja is the Honorary President of Home and Abroad News Press Ambassadors Club.
