国家主席习近平8月16日上午在南京会见马尔代夫总统亚明，对他专程前来出席南京青奥会表示热烈欢迎。亚明高度赞扬中方筹备工作，相信南京青奥会将给各国青少年带来友谊和欢乐。
President Xi Jinping met President of MaldivesAbdulla Yameenin Nanjing on August 16th to warmly welcome him for attending the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. PresidentYameen praised China's preparation for the event and believedthat the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games will bring more friendship and joy to young people.
习近平指出，中马双方相互尊重、相互支持，两国关系一直健康稳定发展，堪称大小国家平等相待、友好相处、互利合作的典范。中方尊重马尔代夫人民根据自身国情选择的政治制度和发展道路，希望马尔代夫保持政治稳定、社会和睦、经济繁荣。中方视马尔代夫为南亚和印度洋地区的重要伙伴，愿同马方共同努力，巩固传统友谊，扩大旅游、贸易、基础设施建设等领域合作，确保重点项目取得良好效益。马尔代夫是古代海上丝绸之路必经之地，中方欢迎马方积极参与21世纪海上丝绸之路建设，将海洋合作培育成两国合作新亮点。
President Xi pointed out that both China and Maldives respect and support each other,the two countries have developed healthy and steady bilateral relation, which is considered a good model of an equal, friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between a big country and a small country. China respects the Maldives people and their own political system and development policyaccording to their own national conditions, andChina hopes that the Maldivescould maintain political stability, social harmony and economic prosperity. China considers the Maldivesas an important partner in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region and itis willing to work with Maldives to consolidate the traditional friendship, expand tourism cooperation, trade, infrastructure construction and ensure key projects to achieve good results. Maldives is an ancient maritime “Silk Road”economic path, China welcomes Maldives to actively participate in “Maritime Silk Road” construction in the 21st centuryand make better marine cooperation between the two countries.
亚明表示，中国是马尔代夫重要合作伙伴，为促进马方经济社会发展作出了重要贡献，在国际上树立了大小国家友好合作的榜样。马方珍惜同中方的关系，坚定奉行一个中国政策，愿同中方加强交往，深化友谊。他邀请习近平主席早日对马尔代夫进行国事访问，相信这必将有力推动两国关系再上新台阶。
President Yameen expressed that China is an important partner of Maldives to assist and promote Maldives' economic and social development with great contributions. China and Maldives established a friendly cooperation modelfor other countries around the world. Maldives cherishes the relationship with China, always support the “One-China” policy. It would like to work with China to strengthen exchanges and further develop the current friendship. HeinvitedPresident Xi to officially visit Maldives at the earliest convenience.He strongly believes that the high level exchange visits will vigorously promote the relations between the two countries to a new level.
