The Kingdom of Belgium is located on the western coast of Europe and borders Germany on the east. In the 2018 Russia World Cup, Belgian national football team achieved the best result in history - the third place, attracting global attentions to this beautiful country - the Kingdom of Belgium. On the morning of August 7th, "Witness Friendship" – Home and Abroad News Press 2018 Summer Junior journalist Delegation visited the Belgian Embassy in China and had exclusive interview with the Minister Counsellor Mr. Karel Van Hecke.
小记者问：“公使先生您好！近年来，中国和比利时关系正处于历史最好时期。两国建立了全方位友好合作伙伴关系。你认为：作为两国青少年，将如何接过“接力棒”、传承中比宝贵的传统友谊？谢谢！”
“Hello, dear Minister! In the recent years, China and Belgium has been in the best time for their bilateral relations. The two countries built the comprehensive partnership in many sectors. In your opinions, as the children and youth in both countries, how should we carry on the traditional friendship between China and Belgium?” a junior journalist asked.
“小记者们英文说得非常好，比利时和中国现在是处于最好的一个友谊阶段，每年都有很多两国的公民，到对方的国家去旅游、访问，你们来到我们比利时使馆，像是这样，我们面对面的交流是非常重要，能增进互相彼此的了解，学到更多的东西，无论你年纪大还是年龄小，你都会在比利时找到许多感兴趣的东西，包括世界上最出名的巧克力和华夫饼，我想去了之后，会有一个全新的感受，是有许多值得我们期待的东西。”比利时王国驻华使馆方海科公使回答。
“All of you speak English very well. Belgium and China are now in the best period in our friendship. Every year, many citizens of both countries visit each other. Today, you come to our Belgian embassy. Just like this, our face-to-face communication is very important. It can enhance mutual understanding, and we learn more about each other. Whether you are old or young, you will always find many interesting things in Belgium, including the world's most famous chocolates and waffles. If you travel to Belgium, you will have fresh feelings about this beautiful country. There are many things we are looking forward to experiencing over there.” Mr. Karel Van Hecke replied.
“提起比利时，我们会想到巧克力、华夫饼、丁丁历险记、蓝精灵……那么请问：提到中国，你会想到什么？谢谢！”小记者问。
“When we are talking about Belgium, we will usually think of chocolate, waffles, Tintin and Smurfs…... We want to ask you: if you are thinking about China, what are the things in your mind? Thank you!” another junior journalist asked.
方海科公使谈到，提到中国有很多很多的事情，有三件很重要的事情在脑海里面浮现，第一，就是中国的美食，我是说你们刚才在自我介绍的时候，说到你们当地的美食，我非常幸运的能来到中国，我能够去到很多不同的餐馆吃到中国的美食。第二，我非常喜欢乒乓球，从小的时候我爸爸买了一个乒乓球桌，但是我的姐姐，不喜欢乒乓球，我就把乒乓球桌竖起来，自己和自己打，不断的练习，在这个过程中我就爱上了乒乓球。第三，中国5000年的一个文化历程，中国的祖先们，他们非常有智慧，发明了很多东西，要让全世界的人民都能享用，比如说指南针、火药。感谢中国的祖先，发明这些东西，然后和全世界的人民去分享，虽然比利时没有这么长的一个历史，比利时也有自己的独特文化。
Mr. Karel Van Heck said that there are many things about China, and three very important things are coming to my mind. Firstly, it is the Chinese food. When you introduced yourself just now and mentioned about your local delicious good, I feel excited and very fortunate to be in China. I can go to many different restaurants to taste countless Chinese food. Secondly, I like table tennis very much. When I was a child, my father bought a table tennis table for us. But my sister didn’t like table tennis. I put the table tennis table up and played with myself. I practiced constantly. I fell in love with table tennis during this process. Thirdly, in China’s 5,000-year cultural journey, Chinese ancestors were very wise and invented a lot of things that people could still use today, such as compasses, gunpowder and etc. Thanks to Chinese ancestors for inventing and sharing these things with the people around the world. Although Belgium does not have such a long history, Belgium also has its unique culture.
小记者问：“比利时国家男子足球队在世界的排名曾长期保持第一；2015年11月5日，国际足联公布的国家队排名中，比利时首次位居榜首创造历史; 2018年俄罗斯世界杯，比利时夺得季军，闯进了世界杯4强，创造了队史世界杯最好战绩, 请问比利时国家如何鼓励孩子们用最自由的方式品味足球？成功塑造了连夺世界杯和欧洲杯的“黄金一代”？谢谢”
A junior journalist asked: “Belgian national man’s football team has always been one of the top players in the world ranking for a long time. November 5th, 2015, Belgium was at the top of the FIFA national team list for the first time in its history. In 2018 Russian World Cup, Belgium won the third place, which is the best result in World Cup. How can the Belgian government encourage children to enjoy football and make them as the “Golden Generation” for the World Cup and the European Cup? Thank you.”
“今年的世界杯，比利时拿到了第三名，闯进了世界杯4强，是我们有史以来拿到最好的成绩。虽然世界杯已经结束了，我们到现在还是仍然热血沸腾，很遗憾的是，在半决赛的时候，比利时负给了法国队，最后法国队夺得世界杯的冠军，也非常友好的祝贺法国。比利时人坚信足球的根本是传球和盘带，孩子们自小的训练重点就是1对1。中国和比利时的足球的交流也是非常多的，比利时足球协会已经和中国足协有交流协议。球队之间也会进行非常多的互换培训，希望在四年后的世界杯决赛赛场上，中国和比利时的足球队能够一起比赛，争夺巅峰。”
“This year's World Cup, Belgium won the third place, which is the best score we have ever achieved. Although the World Cup is over, we are still excited for this result. Unfortunately, Belgium lost to the French team during the semifinal game. However, the French team eventually won the World Cup. We are very happy and friendly congratulations to France. Belgians firmly believe that a good football player is good at passing and dribbling, our children's training is usually 1-to-1 focused. The football exchange between China and Belgium is also very frequent. The Belgian Football Association and Chinese Football Association have exchange agreement. Many football teams also have exchange training. We hope that in the World Cup four years later, the Chinese and Belgian football teams will compete with each other for the winner place.”
小记者们还就中比两国教育、文化交流同比利时王国驻华使馆方海科公使、爱德华参赞进行了良好的沟通，小记者们成为中比关系的友好使者，为两国关系的友好发展做出了自己的贡献。
The junior journalists also had deep conversation with Mr. Karel Van Heck and the Counselor Edward Van Kleunen about Chinese and Belgian education and culture. The junior journalists became friendly messengers of China-Belgium relations and made their contributions to promote and develop the two countries’ friendship.
