Invited by Chinese Ministry of Education, Director-General of UNESCO Bokova came to Shenzhen to attend the 26th World University Games opening ceremony, the World University President Forum, and other related activities. Bokova once came to China in 2010 to participate in the UNESCO activities in Shanghai World Expo. Bokova was born in July, 1952 in Sofia, capital of Bulgaria. She was once appointed the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria and Bulgarian Ambassador in France. In October, 2009, Bokova took the post of the Director-General of UNESCO; she is the first female Director-General of UNESCO in the organization’s history.
国家主席胡锦涛8月１１日在广东省深圳市会见了来华访问并出席第２６届世界大学生运动会开幕式的联合国教科文组织总干事博科娃。
On August 11, President Hu Jintao met with Bokova, Director General of UNESCO who came to visit China and to attend the 26th World University Games opening ceremony.
胡锦涛指出，联合国教科文组织是教育、科学、文化等领域最大的政府间国际组织，成员众多，影响面广，对促进世界各国教育普及提高、科技发展进步、文化传承创新做了许多开创性工作，发挥了重要作用。中国高度重视同联合国教科文组织的合作，积极支持和广泛参与联合国教科文组织开展的全民教育、保护世界文化和自然遗产等工作。
Hu Jintao pointed out that UNESCO was the biggest intergovernmental International organization in the domain of education, science, culture and so on. The organization has numerous members and broad influence in the world. It has done many groundbreaking work and played essential parts in promoting education popularization and enhancement in various countries, making progress in technological development as well as cultural inheritance and innovation. China attaches great importance to its cooperation with UNESCO; it actively supports and participates in work developed by UNESCO such as education-for-all, protection of world cultural and natural heritage and so on.
博科娃表示，中国作为教科文组织的重要成员，积极参与该组织开展全民教育等活动，特别是在支持发展中国家发展方面同教科文组织进行了很好的合作，教科文组织对此表示赞赏和感谢，希望双方进一步加强合作。
Bokova stated that UNESCO was appreciative of China, an important member of the organization, because China has actively taken part in activities like education-for-all, and in particular, it has cooperated very well with UNESCO in supporting the development of the developing countries. She expresses UNESCO’s wishes to further enhance the bilateral cooperation.
13日，世界大学校长论坛在深圳开幕。联合国教科文组织总干事博科娃出席开幕式并致辞，她说，建立世界教育体系比仅建立世界性大学更重要。
On August 13, World University President Forum began in Shenzhen. General-Director of UNESCO Bokova attended the ceremony and gave a speech. She said that to build a global education system is more important than just building global universities.
博科娃在开幕式上还透露，10月24日，联合国教科文组织将召开新一届中非校长峰会，讨论中非不同国家毕业生就业问题。
Bokova revealed in the opening ceremony that on October 24, UNESCO will conduct a new Central African University President Summit to discuss the career options for graduates from different countries in Central Africa.
对于已成功举办的第26届世界大学生运动会，博科娃指出，大运会是一项很有活力的赛事，世界各国的大学生运动员济济一堂，这就是一场“年轻人的奥运会”。大运会在深圳举办，这就是这座城市对世界的贡献。同时，年轻的深圳，也能因此被世界上更多的国家和人民所了解、熟知，也是一次难得的展现风采的机会。
As for the 26th World University Games which has been successfully held, Bokova said that the Universiade was a vigorous sports event. University student athletes from all over the world gathered together to witness the “young people's Olympic Games.” The Universiade was conducted in Shenzhen, a city that has thus made its contribution to the world. At the same time, young Shenzhen also grasped this opportunity to show its beauty to the world, therefore more people from other countries can get to know the city.
