Mr. Fernando Lugris, Home and Abroad News Press went to the Embassy of Uruguay to have exclusive interview with the Secretary to the Presidency of Uruguay, Dr. álvaro Delgado. He expressed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is crucial for Uruguay and China relations, and Uruguay hopes to strengthen the ties and exchanges with China in various fields.

Mr. Delgado said that Uruguay signed a memorandum of understanding with China to jointly build the BRI in 2018, and the BRI is crucial for Uruguay and China relations. “This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uruguay and China, and it is great political significance for Uruguay to participate in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.”

He expressed that in addition to attending the forum, he will also travel to Hong Kong and Macau and visit Shenzhen. He said the Uruguayan government is promoting the second energy transition and expecting to cooperate with the China in the field of public transportation in the future.
